Amelia started training to become an electrician as a second career. Formerly a biologist, she held jobs ranging from restoring endangered falcons in West Texas, collecting fisheries data on small pollock and cod boats in Alaska, surveying whale and walrus behavior from oil exploration vessels in the Arctic, and studying ocean acidification’s effects on plankton in the Puget Sound. Her favorite jobs were always hands-on and in the field, no matter the weather.
After an extended parenting sabbatical and settling in Skagit County, Amelia found her new calling as an electrician in the solar industry. Having handy, do-it-yourself parents and having spent years as a kid cruising on a 30’ sailboat outfitted with solar panel & wind generator, being a solar electrician is a happy convergence of Amelia’s skills and values. Amelia brings her attention to detail, technical know-how, and exceptional workmanship to the customers of Fire Mountain Solar. She finds it deeply meaningful to provide support for all the reasons people turn to solar power, whether it be sustainability, self-sufficiency, resilience, economics, remote living, or energy independence.
Amelia enjoys reading science fiction, paddle boarding, hiking, camping, and collecting beach agates in her spare time.
